// Avast, lest ye be a whore

So, Pirates of the Caribbean comes out on my birthday, and being made by Eurocom (About 5 mins bus ride from my house), so it looks like I’ll have to pick that up soon. Now then, to business.

I’m on lunch from work, at 4.30pm no less, and I’ve realised what’s happened. I couldn’t get a copy of Guitar Hero II, because it’s sold out. Should have one arrive by the end of the week though, so bless the person responsible, I love you in a way men shouldn’t, and the way the bible is certain is wrong - ish.

So, I bought Tomb Raider for a tenner, and FIFA world cup, to finish off a 500 gamerscore achievement.

I’m such a whore :)

// Luke is bricking it

So, Luke spent the weekend trying his best to stay ahead of me in the gamerscore points race. See, Luke got a 360 on Release. I however, was moving, broke up with someone, changed from working for TV to going freelance amongst other things. So, litterally speaking, Luke had six months headstart on me for points.

On Friday, I was within 600 points of Luke, who then went on to play games like Superman Retunrs, TMNT and Eragon, some of the easiest point games around. He’s shitting a brick, as evidenced by his “Lets see who gets to 20k first shall we” remark on MSN.

Well Lukeyboi, 20k is not an option. Considering I work every day, writing copy, and blog work, I think I’m doing ok for being six months behind and still being able to catch you. I have a few freinds that reckon I can take over you in May, when I have time to catch up. they are as follows:

Ghost Recon 2
Blazing Angels (You realised you needed to play half the game to get points, so you stopped!)
Viva Pinata
Def Jam: Icon
Brian Lara International Cricket
Phantasy Star Universe
Battlestations: Midway
Just Cause
Prey
Madden NFL 06
Lost Planet
Marvel Ultimate Alliance
NHL 2K7
Football Manager 2007
Smackdown Vs Raw
Kameo
World Championship Snooker 2007

So, that’s an estimated 9000 points I can get just by putting in some time. (I can’t get all of them obviously, I’ve gotta work). By the way, I’m not counting the other 15 or so games I can’t even be arsed to play.

Bring it Newcombe.

She’d get my vote :)

// A lot like love

I’ve just finished watching this film for what must be the fourth time. Simply put, it’s a perfect romantic film. I’m not a complete softy, but I am possibly the most romantic guy I know, I just don’t always have time or money to show exactly how!

I’m Oliver, and you’re my Emily, you don’t realise it yet.

// the first week

So, I’ve been quite busy this week, sorting out all kinds of things, including ringing or emailing every single publisher. top fun. One of the fun things I have to do is review games for NEO magazine, another of Uncooked’s titles, which means I also have to talk to Sony and Nintendo. Much fun.

What was excellent though, was both were really helpful, which isn’t always the case. I suppose when you’ve got a magazine behind you, it’s a whole lot easier.

Next week is deadline week, so I’ve got a couple of pages left to do, but something cool is happening. I’m going to see a couple of games and drive tanks again! I haven’t driven tanks since 2005 when Paul Sunter, came along to the Advance Wars press day instead of going to GME for a second day. It was poo really. Never mind eh. This is going to be at warwick rifle range, tanks, shooting and games. enough said.

So, I’ll update you tomorrow with whats going on over the weekend, which should be evenful as always.
