// PlayStation 3 Post: Initial thoughts

Haven’t got it yet of course, but the thing is, I don’t actually want one. Sure, I’ll get one for work, but realistically, it doesn’t do anything my 360 doesn’t, aside from Blue-Ray. And no matter how much Sony say it’s important, 99% of Games will never use 50GB. Also, streaming media from my PC and Xbox Live are the killer app for me.

Maybe I’m just unimpressed with most of the games, or maybe I’m just happy with my 360. Who knows. Question is, apart from Luke saying he’ll go and buy one. does anyone out there have one? I mean, 165,000 consoles sold, but for the love of god, I don’t know anyone besides people who work in my industry that have one. I’m really interested to find out just how many consoles Sony sold.

Everyone knew about the 360, and I knew about 40 people who bought one - the Xbox 360 sold 70,000 in its opening weekend. So, why does it seem strange that I know of not a single PS3 owner outside working circles?

// Oh, forgot to say

As evidenced by Stuart, you’re all going to have to sign up again, as I’ve not transferred the users across from the old database. It seems rather unlikely I’m going to be able to get anything, as it GZipped everything when I backed up. That means I can’t paste individual stuff onto the database. Poo.

// Largest commission ever?

So, lets get this over with. I can’t tell you what the game is, but I can tell you it’s for 360 Gamer. Lately, I’ve been doing some news posts for their website, which has been great fun and is definitely putting me back in the newsy frame of mind.

Also, I’ve been doing a fair bit for the mag in terms of previews and review. Featuring in the last few issues, the latest issue (March 29th) has my look at Star Wars: Force Unleashed and Armored Core 4, along with some other little bits. However, this is by far bigger than Enemy Territory of last month.

3000 words. Bugger me!

// And we’re back

So, I’m just making sure we’ve got it all sorted now. I have the database backup, but I’ve got to insert the MySQL queries individually. Oh the fun, especially as I just don’t have the time at the moment.

Anyway, I’ll update you all asap!
